A Superferleuous Amount of Sugar Cookies!

Adam and I had fun making the first batch of christmas cookies,

well at least I did! He just loves to eat them. This is one of

my favorite traditions and I can't wait to make them at home

this year! Hope we can! It also reminds me of being with

Lindsey and Tara because we spent lots of time together

making these in Mn! Oh the good times...and simple pleasures!

I wish I could send you all some over email! We are going to have

to figure out a way to give these away! Ha!

First Turkey Day in Boone!

After dinner coma.... I can't lie-we all slept-not just the boys!! This is the first year I remember actually getting in a good nap!


We shared Thanksgiving with our friends Rob and Claire who had to work yesterday so they ate with us today! The food was ssooo good! Thanks for the help Claire!



We had everything from stuffing, to two kinds of sweet potatoes, to mom's cranberries, to green bean casserole and rolls!




We also had fun having a carved turkey on the table!! yum! Dos- I didn't mess it up!





Williams brought over their table and chairs to help us out! I don't know if anyone has ever brought over their kitchen table to someone's house before?! We appreciated it.....
Now it's time for pie with another fun family!

Two SNOW days in one week?!!!

I didn't think teachers were ever this excited about snow days, now I know differently. I woke up this morning with the same feeling I got when I was ten and school was cancelled. There's just something about seeing the beautiful snow fall, knowing you get to climb back in bed, drink hot chocolate and be inside watching it pile up on everything that makes you feel great inside! The family that calls the snow days said it hasn't been like this in Boone for years so can't believe we had two days in one week! The snow plow still hasn't come by our house and it's noon! Good thing I don't have to be anywhere today. Hopefully Adam makes it back from his meetings today in Asheville! Wish Jake and Blake were here to throw snowballs at, ha!

A night with Perry!!

Adam and Perry worked together in the Philippines. Perry was asked to come help give ideas for the new discipleship program so we had her over for dinner one of the nights she was in town. It was so great to finally meet a good friend who I've only heard stories about.

Thank you for all the wonderful things i was given thursday. yes those are cubs shoes from who else but blakie... gumballs, life is good apparel and roses... the picture with the box is what made me smile the most. lindsey sent me her gift in a dinged up 20 year old box. i'm not trying to embarass her, i just thought it was great that she could send me her gift in that duck taped, dented box because she knew i wouldn't care! love ya linds!!

We finally enjoyed our cake...

My parents brought our cake all the way down with them from Iowa on dry ice when they came to see us we got to enjoy it today!! Thank you for bringing it all the way here! What great memories!!

Smith's come to Boone

Smith's came to boone and it was the perfect weekend, just gorgeous!! We did spend a lot of our time driving, hence not that many pictures, and my camera died when we were celebrating Austin's graduation.................Anyways.........you do see us watching Adam play ultimate frisbee out at valle crucis park. The girls played volleyball, looked for leaves and went down by the stream. The trees were vibrant-what a sight. They left Sunday afternoon-it went by too quickly, but we are glad they got to come and see where we live.

Carmel apples mean fall......

The leaves are starting to change and it's getting cooler outside... What better way to officially say it's fall than candy apples! Adam and I already ate two and they were delicious! I lit the pumpkin candle Blake gave me for Christmas last year to add to the yummy smells and it really did feel like fall. We also went on a bike ride up and down the mountain we're on which was tough! More so for me than Adam, ha! We got soaked because it was a rainy day, but it's always fun to be out in the rain when it doesn't matter if you get wet! To top off our fall day- We watched the cubs beat the brewers and of course some football, and had a cup of hot cho from where else but Panera! We missed both of our close friends this weekend who are on vacation at the beach. I'm glad they missed some wet days here!

Labor Day Weekend!

Well, we didn't get to go anywhere this weekend so we tried to make it the most fun we could here in Boone!!! Saturday morning we ran a 5k for the Christian coffee house in town. I ended up winning my age group which was a laugh. Adam and I just jogged for fun (which was still hard) and I ended up getting that sweet medal in the picture that has an American flag lanyard. We got some yummy breakfast after the race to congratulate ourselves and played catch outside because it was so beautiful. The second picture is the first night we went fishing on Saturday. We hiked out to a spot about half way around the lake and it just started pouring!!!! When we left our house it was hot and sunny, that's Boone for ya! Anyways.......it was well worth it after we got to see that incredible rainbow afterwards. We got lots of bits but they were just little fish!! Yesterday was Adam's birthday and we went fishing again at trout lake near our house. Adam practiced his fly fishing for next weekend when he goes home. He got a few bites and caught some more little ones. Where are all the big fish?!! We came home and had a bonfire and cooked brats! Today he is playing golf with some buddies and hopefully enjoying another day off!

Fun In Boone

I tried to post pictures mom didn't! We took the fam to Woodlands bbq where you see them drinking sweet tea. We listened to some great live music and ate too much food! The others are pictures of our hike where we ran into black raspberries and cows!! We did have so much fun and wish it wouldn't have ended so soon! We miss you guys too!

Our trip to the Billy Graham Library

We went to visit our friends Dan and Christa in Charlotte a few weekends ago and visited the library and his home growing up. We had a ton of fun eating, playing outside, going to a play and just being together. I'm sad summer is over................but that's what weekends are for! fun with friends!

Happy Anniversary!!

We celebrated by having a nice dinner out in blowing rock! I had some of the best lasagna ever! We split an ice cream and then returned home to watch the cubs because they were on tv!!!! Adam brought home the prettiest roses-hope you enjoy!
